Basic Theology: Sufficiency of Scriptures Part 01 - Psychology:

Psychology:

Previous: Mysticism

Psychology has made inroads into the church that really are frightening. The evangelical church is becoming a wholesale exodus from the traditional biblical theology into the new psychology and psychotherapy. Churches that once and for always would hire pastors and evangelists and teachers are now hiring psychologists.

Pastors would go to seminary and learn the Word of God or Bible college are now going to schools of psychology to study human wisdom in dealing with the problems of mankind.

Seminaries are changing their curriculum dramatically. For the first time in the history of the church, seminaries are hiring psychologists on their staff to teach, psychiatrists to teach.

So, the world has been saying the Bible cannot help and sad to see that the church is agreeing that the Bible is inadequate to deal with psychological problems.

The reason we lack certainty on any of these issues are because we have a sinful view of Scripture.

Many Christians no longer believe that the Bible is sufficient for the life and conduct of the church. This is nothing but a sin and it’s a sin by which we the sufficiency of the Word of God.

We have answer for this issue!

2 Corinthians 3:5, Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,

➢ Our sufficiency is not from men,
➢ Our sufficiency is not from human wisdom.
➢ Our sufficiency is not from human resources.
➢ Our sufficiency is from God.

What is the meaning of our sufficiency?

It is our capability of living life in God’s plan to the maximum is from Him. Because we are Christians, live in an environment in which the resources for life are divine.

For our spiritual life the word of God has been revealed to us through His Holy Spirit. Outside the Word of God, we do not have to look for a sufficiency that is not provided in the Scripture.

There are many things in this world are helpful but the matters which is concerning our spiritual life, conduct and ministry the Word of God is sufficient.

Our sufficiency as believers is from God.

2 Corinthians 9:8, And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

God is our sufficiency
    ✓ He is our source
✓ There are no limits on His ability
    ✓ All grace not some
    ✓ All abound not some
✓ Always not few or sometimes
✓ All good works not some

2 Corinthians 9:10, Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

Now when somebody comes along and says that the Bible is just not sufficient then you should know that there is no issue that the Scripture can’t deal with.

✓ Our sufficiency begins with God and
    ✓ God is sufficient.

God is sufficient and that our resources have to come from Him and these resources God gives to us come through the Spirit of God and the Word of God.

Jesus spoke about the total sanctification of a believer in the Gospel of John.
John 17:17, Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

The word “sanctify” means “set apart from sin, holy, separated unto God.” Meaning spiritual perfection, spiritual completion, that which we should be in Christ.

He says, “O God, make them pure, make them holy, set them apart from sin unto Yourself and do it by Your truth.” Then He says in the same verse, “Thy Word is truth.”

Obviously, we can conclude that the full holiness of the believer is the work of the Word of God.

It is not the Word of God plus something else!!If you add anything then it becomes the cult! We had seen about the cults have common is that they added to the Word of God.

Look at what God spoke through the prophet Micah.
Micah 2:7, You who are named the house of Jacob: “Is the Spirit of the Lord restricted? Are these His doings? Do not My words do good To him who walks uprightly?

✓ The Word of God is the source of the goodness of life.
✓ The Word of God is the source of benefit to an obedient believer who walks uprightly.
✓ The Word of God brings us all the good that God can dispense as we walk in obedience to that Word.

1 Corinthians 2:13-16, These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

✓ The wisdom of God comes to us not through human sources.
✓ God grants His wisdom to us by the Spirit of God.
✓ The wisdom is comprehensive, effective, and complete.
✓ Comprehend everything based upon the knowledge of the Word of God.
✓ We have mind of Christ.

The mind of Christ is the consummate mind of God.
The mind of Christ is omniscient.
The mind of Christ is supreme.
The mind of Christ knows no insufficiency.
That word from God allows us to judge, evaluate, appraise, understand, comprehend, and reason all things.

Why?
Because it brings to us the mind of Christ.
The mind of Christ is a sufficient mind.

Mark 12:24, Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?

Jesus was saying to know the Scripture is to experience the power of God.

Matthew 4:4-10,
When the devil came to tempt Jesus up on the mount and the devil tempted Him, what did Jesus do?
How did Jesus handle Satan?
Did Jesus I bind you, I condemn you, I send you to the pit?
Did Jesus give him some kind of formula?

The answer is very simple!
It is written
Jesus dealt with him on three different temptations and in every case, He did say the same thing

The power of God was expressed in the Word of God. When those three temptations were over, the Bible says the devil left Him and the angels came and ministered.
