Introduction - Second Coming of Jesus - Matthew 24

Jesus Christ Second Coming – Lesson 01

Introduction

There has been a lot of controversy about the Second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The promise of Christ to come rule is mentioned in the bible.

1,845 references in the Old Testament

318 references in the New Testament

23 of 27 New Testament books mentions

216 Chapters in the New Testament refers to them.

For everyone prophecy of Jesus first coming there are 8 prophecies in the Bible.

John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Jesus said He will come again to take the believers with Him.

So as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we need to understand we ought to wait for Him and understand when He will come?

Jesus warned us that let no one deceive you!

Matthew 24:4, And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.

If you read the opening of the verses you will understand that here Jesus was talking to His disciples in the Mount of olives.

The message from our Lord Jesus Christ recorded in three Gospels since Matthew knew the shorthand he had taken verbatim of every word spoken by Jesus Christ.

Matthew 24& 25
Mark 13
Luke 21

Matthew 24:1-3, Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?

Jesus said many will be deceived.

Matthew 24:5, For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

No one knew the time except the Father.

Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

Matthew 24:42, Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

Matthew 24:44, Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Luke 12:37 & 40, Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.

Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Mark 13:32, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Acts 1:6-7, 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

So why do we study?

We got to be ready for His coming because Jesus is going to come at an hour we do not expect?

The Bible is ¼ is Prophetic.

735 events told in the bible

596 events are fulfilled that is 80%

139 events are yet to be fulfilled which is 20%

Out of which there is one event alone foretold 318 times, that’s none other than the second coming of Jesus Christ.

When the disciples asked Jesus Christ about the end times in the Mount of olives He gave them four signs.

    1. World
    2. Church
    3. Jerusalem
    4. Sky

So let us study and find out the signs what Jesus told and we won’t be unaware of the events takes place around us.
